High Integrity

Depending on the exact quality, engineered wood flooring can last many years. Higher quality versions, with thicker top layers (the ‘wear’ layer), can also be refinished to look like new again.

Better moisture resistance

The HDF core gives engineered wood flooring the highest moisture resistance possible in a genuine wood floor. That means it won’t expand or contract with changes in humidity, resulting in a longer life and more uniform floor.

What is Engineered Hardwood Flooring?

Engineered hardwood flooring is a product made up of a core of hardwood, plywood or HDF and a top layer of hardwood veneer that is glued on the top surface of the core and is available in almost any hardwood species.

The product thus has the natural characteristics of the selected wood species as opposed to a photographic layer. The “engineered” product has been designed to provide greater stability, particularly where moisture or heat pose problems for solid hardwood floors.

Dent resistance.

Because the HDF core is so dense, it creates a floor that’s up to twice as hard as a solid wood floor of the same species. That means engineered wood flooring won’t dent as easily.

Easier installation

When installing solid wood flooring , contractors must nail the boards to a wood subfloor in order to avoid the problems caused by expansion and contraction. An engineered hardwood floor, however, can be installed directly onto concrete and simply clicked or glued into place.
